Leaders address Blacktown City budget forum

A leading western Sydney businessman and a high achieving academic will be special guest speakers at Blacktown City Council’s budget information sessions later this month.

Council is hosting the annual ‘Budget Insight’ forums in two sessions. The first is a business focused breakfast on Tuesday, 21 May and the second is a community focused forum on Wednesday, 22 May.

Both events will give the Blacktown community a chance to hear first-hand about Council’s $736 million budget. Guests will also have the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback.

Blacktown City Mayor, Stephen Bali MP said: “these forums are an important source of engagement with business owners, residents, people from sporting and community groups, and students.”

Council has embarked on major transformational projects: redeveloping Warwick Lane in the Blacktown CBD, establishing a university campus in Blacktown, and developing an International Centre for Training Excellence.

Mayor Bali said: “We are very pleased to have keynote speakers who are part of the growth of this City. We will also present our plans for the City as Our Blacktown 2036 strategy rolls out.”

The community forum guest speaker is Paul Campbell, Deputy Chief Operating Officer at Australian Catholic University (ACU). Mr Campbell has also become the program director for the establishment of the ACU Blacktown CBD University Campus.

The Budget Insight for our Community Forum will be held on Wednesday, 22 May, 6.30 pm – 8.30 pm, at The Nirimba Room, Civic Centre, Campbell Street, Blacktown.

Guest speaker for the business breakfast is David Mumford, sales and marketing director of RBK Nutraceuticals, who has spent the last 20 years building the business in Blacktown City.

“Blacktown is a booming area for business and for young people growing up here. We have operated our business in Blacktown for a very long time and have seen how different industries are moving into the area or expanding, Mr Mumford said.

The Budget Business Insight Breakfast Forum will be held on Tuesday, 21 May, 7 am – 8.30 am, also at The Nirimba Room, Civic Centre, Campbell Street, Blacktown.
