With the roll-out of Council’s new three-bin system rapidly approaching, now is the perfect time to find out how to make best use of your third bin when it arrives.

From this month, Council staff will be at market stalls and other major public events in the region ready to answer any questions and provide information on the new three-bin system.

Council’s Waste Education Officer will also be available to conduct information workshops on request at local clubs, organisations and events. Bookings can be made now by calling (03) 5018 8100.

Under the new three-bin system, which starts on 6 July, residents will receive a large 240-litre green bin for garden and organic waste.

Along with the new bin will be a change to the bin collection schedule:

  • Green bin (240-litre) collected weekly: food organics and garden organics
  • Red bin (120-litre) collected fortnightly: landfill/rubbish
  • Yellow bin (240-litre) collected fortnightly: recycling.
