Lennox Comedy Gala Heats Up for Winter: Ballina Shire

Lennox Comedy Gala Heats Up for Winter

Following the extraordinary success of the first Lennox Comedy Gala in April, the seasonal gala continues with a winter show on Saturday 4 June at the Lennox Head Cultural Centre.

“After the last comedy gala we were the talk of the town. We raised over $2,500 for the flood efforts and we are upping the ante for the winter show,” said John Peacock from The Comedy Commune.

“We’ve secured the amazing Luke Heggie, who is absolutely at the top of his game, to close the show. When Luke Heggie was nominated for best show at Brisbane Comedy Festival, Melbourne International Comedy Festival and The Adelaide Fringe Festival, he never imagined he’d be closing out the second Lennox Comedy Gala,” added John.

Joining Luke Heggie is internationally acclaimed Jenny Wynter, bringing her hilarious improvised musical comedy to the stage. Matty B is a pro from Newcastle with tales about how his South Ballina address survived (or didn’t) in the floods. Bron Lewis, just back from a sell-out Sydney Comedy Festival and Adelaide Fringe Festival. Bron also won the ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ title in Triple J’s Raw Comedy Competition and will be heading to the Edinburgh Fringe as part of her prize. Opening the show is up and comer Annisa Nandaula, an award-winning spoken poet who is setting the Brisbane comedy scene on fire.

“We’re excited to have the Comedy Gala back at Lennox Head Cultural Centre for their second season and to be working with The Comedy Commune to bring quality events to the centre,” added Roberta O’Brien, Coordinator Community Facilities, Ballina Shire Council.

Doors open at 6.30pm, with Club Lennox providing the bar and snacks onsite. The show starts at 7.30pm.
