Lennox Head entry reopens following intersection upgrade

Lennox Head entry reopens following intersection upgrade

The Ballina Street and Park Lane intersection upgrade in Lennox Head is nearing completion and Ballina Street has reopened to traffic in both directions.

Park Lane will remain closed and traffic control will be in place during landscaping work, which is expected to be completed Friday 1 September 2023.

The intersection, which is the southern entry point to Lennox Head town centre, was closed during Stage 5 of the Lennox Village Vision project. This stage included stormwater renewal, watermain renewal, new kerb, road reconstruction and paving.

The temporary roundabout installed at the intersection of Byron Bay Road (The Coast Road) and Byron Street to assist traffic flow during the works, will remain in place. Council is investigating options to leave this temporary arrangement in place for the medium-term until funding can be sought for a permanent solution.

The temporary bus stop has been removed and services will return to their normal locations on Ballina Street (Lennox Park – Southbound; Medical Centre – Northbound).

Council thanks businesses and residents for their patience and understanding during this upgrade.

Lennox Park upgrade starting soon

Stage 7 of the Lennox Village Vision project – the Lennox Park upgrade – is set to commence in mid-September 2023.

This major park upgrade will feature a new bus stop, amenities, footpaths, and landscaping. The shelter shed will be retained and renovated.

During this upgrade residents can expect:

  • Park and beach access will be closed.
  • The public toilets, shelter shed, and bus stop will remain open until later in the year.
  • There will be no impact to traffic on Ballina Street.

Once complete, this stage will enhance Lennox Head’s green space providing better shade and recreation for the community.

Further notifications about Stage 7 works will be provided in the coming weeks.
