The Mount Gambier Library Crochet Club are hosting the third annual exhibition with works on display and for sale this Saturday 9 November from 10:00am to 2:00pm and Sunday 10 November from 11:00am to 2:00pm.
Consisting of approximately 60 members, the Crochet Club is a lively bunch of community members that meet twice a week, coordinated by local volunteer Val Milner. Val has dedicated hundreds of hours of her time to share her knowledge and skills in this craft.
Crochet has made quite the fashionable comeback with the group producing high quality items such as hats, scarves, rugs, toys etc.
– Team Leader Library Programs Kristi Leamey said.
“Some of the items on display will be available for purchase and in the past customers have been able to commission unique items”.
The group meet every Monday and Friday from 2:00pm to 4:00pm with new members welcome to join at any time. As well as sharing new ideas and skills the group have formed friendships and actively get together for other social events.
In addition to the regular Crochet Club, Val has been running beginners’ workshops for the past two years.
“Val’s workshops have been a huge hit and anyone interested in joining one of these groups can contact Mount Gambier Library to register their interest,” Ms Leamey said.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to meet members of the group and maybe even join and discover why this craft has made such a huge comeback.”
The exhibition is open to the public with a lucky door prize up for grabs.
