For Australian family-owned Whites Rural, 2019 marks the start of a great new partnership.
Recognising the important work done by Australia’s leading crisis support service, Whites Rural has joined forces with Lifeline Australia to provide support and resources to rural Australians.
“Financial pressure and feelings of isolation are perennial concerns for many rural and regional Australians”, said Michael Kelly, CEO Whites Group.
“Add to that fluctuations in weather patterns causing floods, fire and drought and it becomes a real test for the resilience that people on the land are renowned for”.
“It’s important for them to know that help is available and how to access that help.”
Lifeline Australia are leaders in suicide prevention. With over 50% of their centres based in rural and regional Australia, they are on the ground in these communities and understand the struggles and pressures faced.
“For over 40 years now, our rural business has been about supplying good rural fencing. We believe that good fences make good neighbours and we wanted a way to give back to the rural communities that have supported us”, Mr Kelly added.
In its support, Whites Rural hopes to not only fund more calls, but also assist Lifeline to explore new technologies to do more for people in crisis in regional, rural and remote Australia.
“Lifeline are absolutely delighted to be partnering with Whites Rural as their charity partner for the next three years. Their commitment to supporting Lifeline signifies a deeper, long-term commitment to the needs of rural Australia and for that we are incredibly grateful. Each year Lifeline receives around 1 million requests for help. With the kindness and generosity of Whites Rural we can continue be there 24/7 to provide connection and hope – ultimately saving lives.” said Jessica Wood, Partnerships Manager, Lifeline Australia.
