Young athletes representing the state at interstate sporting events can now access more financial support as part of the Tasmanian Government’s cost of living relief measures.
Minister for Sports and Events, Nick Duigan has launched the 2045/25 Junior Travel Assistance Program which offers young Tasmanians the opportunity to reach their sporting dreams.
“We are committed to getting more Tasmanians active and removing barriers to participation in sport or active recreation,” Minister Duigan said.
“We know that as Tasmanians face cost of living pressures, the cost of attending sporting events are an added burden.
“Through our funding, 750 young Tasmanians between the age of 12-18 will be able to access financial support through one off grants of $200.
“The program guidelines and application process have been reviewed to make the application process easier while enabling more Tasmanians to access funding.
The Government’s 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future is all about making life more affordable for Tasmanians and we’ll continue to back our sporting stars to shine on the national stage.
