Police are investigating after a light plane crashed in bushland at Lyons this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 2.30pm after reports a fixed wing aircraft had ditched into a paddock off Tully Road.
Preliminary information suggests the plane suffered engine difficulties before crashing into bushland and catching fire.
The pilot and sole occupant, a man ages in his 20s, was assisted by witnesses from the wreckage.
He sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital in a critical but stable condition.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
