The State Government allocated $2.5million in its May budget to light the Steve Moneghetti track around Lake Wendouree and nearby Victoria Park.
To progress the project through early 2019, a Cultural Heritage Management Plan was completed for the Lake Wendouree Foreshore.
A lighting consultant has been engaged to develop a detailed scope, layout concept and cost estimates to support a funding application to Regional Development Victoria.
This work has considered Australian Lighting Standards, Tree Protection Zones, existing civil infrastructure conditions and any other planning overlays present.
A series of meetings has occurred between Council officers and Regional Development Victoria to progress a funding application.
A draft funding application will be finalised and submitted once the detailed scope, layout concept and cost estimates have been determined.
This work is envisaged to be complete by the end of September.
