As stated by QUEENSLAND RAIL HEAD OF SOUTH EAST QUEENSLAND NEIL BACKER:
Despite the soggy start to summer, Queensland Rail is pleased to announce that Lindum station will reopen to customers in time for Christmas (on 23 December) and Morningside station will welcome customers back in time for New Year’s Eve celebrations (on 31 December).
The stations open after an 11-month closure for major construction works as part of our Station Accessibility Upgrade Program.
We’ve listened to our customers, who told us they’ve been looking forward to the stations reopening so they can catch the train again from their local.
While trains will be stopping at the stations soon, construction on additional upgrade features and finishing touches will continue into early next year.
Due to inclement weather conditions and the added impact of the complex site geography, Banyo station will now reopen in early 2025.
This rainfall over the past two months has unfortunately impacted construction, with South East Queensland on track for its wettest December in nearly 15 years.
Buranda station will also reopen mid-next year, as planned.
We thank our customers for their patience while the accessibility improvements at Lindum, Morningside, Banyo and Buranda stations continue into the new year.
Upgrading our rail network continues to make a big difference in the lives of customers – so they can travel on our trains safely and without barriers.
Whether you use a wheelchair, push a pram or you’re travelling with luggage, our station upgrades make train travel easier to use for all.
