Liverpool City Council appoints new Chief Executive Officer

Mayor Ned Mannoun has announced the appointment of former NSW State MP, Mr John Ajaka, as the new CEO of Liverpool City Council.

“Following an extensive recruitment process, all our councillors unanimously agreed to appoint Mr John Ajaka,” said Mayor Ned Mannoun.

“Mr Ajaka is a man respected by all sides of politics and the right choice to lead our council as we continue to embrace our ‘Back to Basics’ strategy and deliver more frontline services to our ratepayers.”

The mayor said that John would bring a wealth of talent and experience to the role.

“John has served as the Parliamentary Secretary for Roads and Transport, Minister for Ageing, Disability, Youth Volunteering and Multiculturalism, as well as President of the NSW Legislative Council. He is also an experienced solicitor and has been a partner of his own firm.

“His appointment today will be a real boost for our city,” said Mannoun. “He will continue our work to turn around the budget deficit we inherited and help us focus on advocating for more funds for our city, from both the state and federal governments.”

He said that John Ajaka’s impressive resume also included a stint as a councillor on Rockdale Council.

“John is motivated by giving back to the community and helping people, as he has been for over 30 years.”

“He is the current Chair of the Sydney Health District, Chair of the NSWRL Foundation, and Director of NSW Wheelchair Rugby League.”

Mr Ajaka will commence in the role on 12 December 2022.

“Under Mr Ajaka’s steady leadership, the future of Liverpool looks very bright,” Mayor Mannoun concluded.
