Preparing for a winter harvest |

Malvern Library 1255 High Street Malvern |
If you love our libraries, you’ll love our year-long sustainable living series, packed full of great gardening events to support our community to live (and garden) more sustainably.
The program continues this Saturday, 29 April with a session on preparing for a winter harvest. Come along to learn how to prepare your garden during autumn to reap a bumper harvest in winter – with tips on what you need to know about growing fresh produce at home over the cooler months.
Be guided on which veggies are best for growing in winter – including growing from seeds and in pots, plus valuable advice on soil preparation, garden maintenance, crop rotation and companion planting.
T’is the season to know and grow.
Other topics covered throughout the year are growing year-round veg, preparing for a spring harvest, caring for your citrus trees, propagating seeds, and preparing for a bountiful summer harvest.
And if that isn’t enough, join our Seed Library, where you can borrow seeds, then grow, collect, and return the seeds to your local library.
It’s small, community-minded actions that have a large, long-lasting and positive impact on local biodiversity, our environment and our community, and this program is suitable for all, whether you’re a green thumb, beginner or a seasoned gardener.
The workshops are held at our libraries and via Zoom.
Bookings are required at
The program is presented by Stonnington Library and Information Service, along with various experts in the field and with Sustainable Gardening Australia.
