Two handguns – one loaded – an extendable baton, cash and ICE have been seized when a car was stopped at Whalan, in Sydney’s west, this morning.
Officers from Mt Druitt Police Area Command stopped the Holden Cruze on Luxford Road about 2:30am (Tuesday 12 March 2019), and spoke with the three occupants, two men and a woman.
When checks revealed that the 32-year-old driver was currently subject to a Firearms Prohibition Order, officers searched the three occupants and the vehicle.
Police arrested the man when two handguns – one of which was loaded – were found hidden in a panel within the car.
They also seized $1720 cash found on the driver, while a 24-year-old woman, who was a front-seat passenger, was arrested after an extendable baton was allegedly found in her handbag.
Police also found mobile phones, clear resealable bags, drugs, and scales as well as visa debit cards in various names. They will also allege two clear resealable bags – allegedly containing ICE – was found in the man’s underwear.
The vehicle has been seized as an exhibit and towed to the police holding yard and the man and woman were taken to Riverstone Police Station
The Quakers Hill man has been charged with four offences:
• Possess unauthorised pistol (two counts)
• Acquire etc pistol-subject to firearms prohibition order, and
• Supply prohibited drug.
The Willmot woman has been charged with three offences:
• Possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, and
• Possess unauthorised pistol (two counts).
They have both been refused bail to appear in Mt Druitt Local Court today.
A second man has been released pending further information.
