At this week’s meeting, Campaspe Shire Council released a revised Local Law No 1 Use of the Common Seal for public comment.
Mayor, Cr Adrian Weston said that while much of the previous local law is now covered by Governance Rules, which are also out for community consultation, the new draft Local Law is confined to the use of the Common Seal affixed to documents authorised by Council, a Delegated Committee or the Chief Executive Officer.
“The preparation of this Local Law ensures that Council meets its statutory obligations under the existing Local Government Act 1989 and the new Local Government Act 2020,” Cr Weston said.
The community is now invited to make submissions on Local Law No 1 Use of the Common Seal. Written submissions must be received by 5pm on Thursday, 30 July. An online submission form is available from Council’s website.
“If any submitters wish to speak in support of their submission, a submission hearing will be held on Tuesday, 4 August at 5pm at the Echuca Civic Centre Function Room,” the Mayor said.
The Local Law will be considered for adoption on Tuesday, 18 August at 5pm taking into account any submissions received.
The Local Law is available for viewing on or in hard copy at any customer service centre.
