Local Talent Departs for Antarctic Expedition

Lithgow City Council is proud to be one of the region’s largest employers. This Council also employs and develops local talent, as evidenced by Council’s electrician, Ben Hawkins, being selected to support the 76th Australian ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Antarctic Research Expedition.

Lithgow City Council is proud to be one of the region’s largest employers, with over 200 employees. This includes a wide range of talent, including engineers, plant operators, accountants, mechanics, IT specialists… The list goes on! Ben Hawkins, Council’s previous Leading Hand of Trades and Electrical, is a great example.

Ben has been selected to participate in the 76th Australian ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Antarctic Research Expedition as a Maintenance Electrician. In this role Ben will be supporting a community of over 100 people living at the Antarctic research station, providing critical services to their operation. Prior to his departure, Ben will train in Hobart for 2 months, learning how to maintain bespoke life support infrastructure and equipment.
