The Indian Society of WA (ISWA) has received funding of $188,000 from the McGowan Government’s Lotterywest COVID-19 Relief Fund.
The funding will enable ISWA to assist people who are experiencing financial hardship and food stress across Western Australia due to COVID-19.
ISWA is currently receiving up to 40 new requests each day for assistance. The funding will be used to provide food packs, financial assistance for accommodation and basic living costs for vulnerable people impacted by COVID-19.
This includes meals cooked and delivered by volunteers to vulnerable seniors in self-isolation.
The McGowan Government, through Lotterywest, has committed $159 million to a COVID-19 Relief Fund to respond to the hardship being experienced by the Western Australian community as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lotterywest’s COVID-19 Relief Fund is helping to meet costs related to increased demand for crisis relief services impacted by COVID-19.
