A career in nursing always appealed to Blue Mountains Hospital registered nurse, Jamie Webb. Raised by passionate healthcare workers, Jamie grew up hearing interesting tales from the hospital which fed her hunger for learning.

“In a world full of different conditions, disorders and diseases, I knew that a career in nursing would always provide me with new learning opportunities,” says Jamie, who is one of the new graduate registered nurses who joined the team at Blue Mountains District Anzac Memorial Hospital earlier this year.
“I also thoroughly enjoy talking and listening to new people and nursing provides me with many opportunities to communicate with people from all over the world.”
Jamie began working as an assistant in nursing before taking the next step as a registered nurse and with aspirations to continue her studies, the sky really is the limit for what she may achieve.
“Growing in my career and challenging myself is important to me. I see myself going back to university and becoming a clinical nurse consultant, clinical nurse specialist or clinical nurse educator,” says Jamie.
“I’m also interested in specialising in emergency care nursing and paediatric nursing. I feel that these nursing specialties will provide me with great learning opportunities and room for career development.”
Jamie says that beginning her nursing career at a regional hospital like Blue Mountains offers many benefits for education and professional development.
“I think working in a smaller hospital like Blue Mountains Hospital teaches individuals to think outside the box and allows for learning in a supportive environment.”
