Machete-wielding man refused bail after kidnapping at Boggabilla, NSW

A man has been charged after allegedly kidnapping and threatening a man with a machete in the state’s far north.

About 2am on Tuesday (19 November 2019), two men, aged 34 and 55, were travelling in the Boggabilla area when it is alleged the younger man produced a machete and threatened the driver.

Police were told the 34-year-old forced the man to drive around Boggabilla for several hours, during which he threatened a second man and approached and assaulted a third man in Yeoman Street at Moree.

Officers attached to New England Police District commenced an investigation into the matter and arrested the 34-year-old at a home at Boggabilla.

He was taken to Boggabilla Police Station and charged with kidnapping, armed with intent, take and drive conveyance and stalk/ intimidate.

The man was refused bail and appeared before Inverell Local Court yesterday (Wednesday 20 November 2019). He was remanded in custody to appear at Moree Local Court on Monday 3 February 2020.
