Food lover, media personality and author, Maeve O’Meara shared her extraordinary career and adventures with 120 guests at Mosman Council’s International Women’s Day breakfast, on Friday 6 March.
Maeve recounted her childhood growing up in Mosman, and the evolution of her career, from starting as a journalist at Fairfax and the ABC, to charting new ground at SBS, and carving out a path exploring the world as one of Australia’s most renowned champions of multicultural cuisines. She said ‘being bold and a little bit brave’ and wanting no two days to be the same had served her well. She also suggested to the school students in the room that while ‘there are still glass ceilings to break and boundaries to be crossed,’ above all, we need to be kind to each other.
Guests at the breakfast, held in the Mosman Art Gallery’s Grand Hall, included Mosman Mayor Carolyn Corrigan, Deputy Mayor Libby Moline, Councillors Tom Sherlock, Jacqui Willoughby, and Roy Bendall, Member for North Shore Felicity Wilson, members of the community and students from local schools.
