Premier Roger Cook and Education Minister Dr Tony Buti today officially opened new state-of-the-art facilities at Ridge View Secondary College in Baldivis.
The completion of the Stage 2 development doubles the capacity of the college to 1,450 students since opening in 2019 and will accommodate the inaugural cohort of students when they commence Year 12 in 2024.
The State Government has invested $70 million into the extensive redevelopment program at the college. The new facilities include performing arts and lecture theatres, a commercial kitchen with student teaching caf, a fitness centre, mechatronics and engineering laboratories, and specialist classrooms for drama, dance, music, visual art and media.
The new facilities add to existing general teaching buildings, digital technologies laboratories, a gymnasium, technology facilities and science laboratories. Additional parking has also been provided, which includes an electric vehicle charging station.
The project is part of a significant capital works program underway across Western Australia, with the Cook Government investing more than $1.5 billion to build and improve public education facilities.
As stated by Premier Roger Cook:
“Our Government is committed to delivering top-quality learning facilities for all Western Australian students.
“Baldivis is growing fast, and it is important that we continue to invest to cater for the increasing number of local families and students in the area.”
As stated by Education Minister Tony Buti:
“This exciting development will allow the inaugural students at Ridge View Secondary College to complete Year 12 in new state-of-the-art facilities next year.
“Stage 2 facilities have enhanced opportunities for students across the college by enabling a diverse range of career pathways to be offered using the latest industry standards.
“I look forward to seeing the students at Ridge View Secondary College benefit from the wide range of exciting opportunities that will be delivered with these new specialist classrooms and facilities.”
As stated by Baldivis MLA Reece Whitby:
“The upgrades to Ridge View Secondary College are a win for not only students but for the broader Baldivis community.
“These state-of-the-art additions are making sure Baldivis families have access to quality educational services and pave the way for a bright future for students.”
