- $2.1 million Lotterywest grant to support Kalgoorlie-Boulder Youth Precinct

Premier Roger Cook has today announced a $2.1 million Lotterywest grant towards the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Youth Precinct, building on an important election commitment to develop a modern youth hub in the heart of the city.
The project will transform the current skate park and public amenities at Kingsbury Park into a modern, vibrant, inclusive space in the centre of Kalgoorlie.
Once complete, the precinct will incorporate the newly refurbished skate park, a new pump track, hang-out spaces and a versatile multipurpose court along with lighting, comfortable seating and landscaping.
The precinct design has been informed by extensive youth engagement and the project is being guided by the City of Kalgoorlie Youth Council.
The project will enhance safety, recreation and socialisation within the existing park while providing opportunities to develop and foster new youth activities through partnerships with local agencies and organisation.
The Cook Government has already allocated $2.1 million towards the project as part of a 2021 election commitment, with the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder committing $1.83 million.
As stated by Premier Roger Cook:
“It’s important that we give our young people modern and inviting spaces to spend their time, particularly in regional centres like Kalgoorlie.
“This Youth Precinct will reinvigorate the Kingsbury Park space and provide a safe, engaging environment for young people and the wider community.
“This is another great example of Lotterywest investing back into the local community.”
As stated by Regional Development Minister Don Punch:
“The new Youth Precinct in the heart of Kalgoorlie-Boulder will cater for a range of interests and age groups.
“It will bring young people and families back into the city centre, providing opportunities for the delivery of new youth programs.
“Lotterywest continues to be a great supporter of our regions through this initiative and many other projects around the State.”
As stated by Youth Minister Simone McGurk:
“Kingsbury Park will be transformed once the precinct is complete with safe spaces for youth to socialise and relax.
“The addition of Lotterywest funding will enable the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder to enhance the space even further.
“I had the opportunity to tour the site earlier this year and I am confident these new facilities will be a fun and welcoming space for young people.”
