More evidence today that major projects are in disarray under Jacinta Allan after the Federal Government was forced to intervene on Melbourne Airport Rail.
Federal Infrastructure Minister Catherine King today confirmed the Commonwealth will appoint an independent negotiator following the Premier’s failure to reach an agreement with Melbourne Airport after more than five years.
Shadow Minister for Major Projects, David Southwick, said: “This intervention is confirmation that even the Federal Labor Government has lost faith in Jacinta Allan’s ability to deliver major projects for Victoria.
“Airport Rail is an important project for Victoria’s future but it has been delayed due to Labor’s mismanagement. It’s time for the Premier to sit down with Melbourne Airport and sort out this mess.
“With cost blowouts of more than $30 billion and major projects running years overdue, it’s clear Jacinta Allan simply can’t be trusted to deliver major projects on time or on budget.”
