Major Upgrades Kick Off at Tatyoon Recreation Reserve Sports Oval

Ararat Rural City Council has continued to build on its commitment to improving community facilities throughout the municipality, making significant progress on another key project.

Earlier this month, major improvement works began at Tatyoon Recreation Reserve Sports Oval, including the installation of a new irrigation system and upgrades to the drainage system.

The next stage of the project will require electrical works to be carried out, as well as the installation of a new pump and tank. Surface upgrades and new line markings will complete the final stages of the project. These upgrades will significantly enhance the quality of the playing surface as well as reduce maintenance requirements.

Melbourne-based irrigation specialists Aqualines Irrigation Pty Ltd have been contracted to carry out the upgrade works, which is scheduled for completion by January 2025.

This $330,000 project is supported by an $80,000 contribution from Ararat Rural City Council, together with $250,000 in grant funding allocated under the Victorian State Government’s Country Football and Netball Program.

This program is part of a $2.5 million Victorian State Government initiative to assist regional football and netball clubs, associations, and umpiring organisations to develop their facilities and increase participation among disadvantaged and under-represented groups.

“Local sports are an essential part of our community,” said Ararat Council CEO, Dr Tim Harrison.

“We’re excited to be able to deliver these upgrades to Tatyoon Sports Oval for our residents and visitors to enjoy. Our commitment to supporting our local sporting community and providing exceptional facilities remains strong.”
