The Morrison Government has welcomed the Western Australian Parliament’s passage of legislation yesterday to make it easier for licensed tradespeople and professionals to work interstate.
Minister Assisting the Prime Minister and Cabinet and Federal Member for Tangney, Ben Morton, said JobPass makes it easier than ever to work in Western Australia.
“We’re saving individuals and businesses time, money and paperwork, so workers can work where the work is,” Minister Morton said.
“By removing the need for tradies and other licensed professionals to get another licence when they move state, we’re making it easier and cheaper for them to make that move.
“As business and consumer demands change, JobPass saves time and money for businesses to hire and mobilise employees – this will benefit businesses wanting to hire fly in fly out workers in regional WA.
“Across Australia, JobPass is anticipated to benefit over 168,000 workers each year and add $2.4 billion to the Australian economy over the next 10 years, yet Federal Labor opposed it.
“State and territory governments across Australia – both Liberal and Labor – have made changes to their laws to make it easier and cheaper for everyday Australians to get work. Yet Federal Labor – Anthony Albanese – opposed these laws when the Morrison Government brought it to Federal Parliament.
“Mr Albanese is one of the most left-wing leader’s Labor has ever had. He clearly doesn’t understand Western Australians.”
JobPass is currently in place in Western Australia, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, the Australian Capital Territory and the Northern Territory.
