This week QPS Rail Squad officers have been working in collaboration with Queensland Rail (QR) staff to raise awareness of Domestic and Family Violence (DFV), with multiple community engagement hubs at train stations around the greater Brisbane railway network.
QPS officers are raising awareness of domestic and family violence around greater Brisbane train stations
With one woman killed by her current or former partner each week, the engagement hubs form part of the QPS and QR commitment to the prevention of domestic and family violence, ensuring community members have access to DFV-related information and support systems.
Domestic and family violence may include behaviours that control or dominate, behaviours that cause the victim to fear for their safety or wellbeing, and behaviours that are threatening, coercive or intimidating.
White Ribbon Day is Friday, November 20
Rail Squad officers have this week provided engagement around Ipswich, Beenleigh and Petrie train stations.
Everyone has the right to feel safe, to be protected and to ask for help.
Today, Friday, November 20, is White Ribbon Day, and QPS will have hubs running from 4pm to 6pm at Central, Roma Street and South Brisbane train stations.
Only by working together can we reduce the impact of DFV on our community.
This White Ribbon Day stand up, speak out and act to prevent men’s violence against women.
