A man will face court after an alleged carjacking attempt was thwarted by police in the state’s west today.
About 9am (Wednesday 17 July 2019), police were called following reports that man was allegedly attempting to forcibly steal a motor vehicle from another man on Nicholls Street, Broken Hill.
Officers attached to Barrier Police District were able to respond within a minute as a result of Operation Early Snow 2.
Operation Early Snow 2 is a high visibility, proactive police operation targeting wanted and high-risk offenders in the police district, as well as traffic offences and other forms of criminal activity.
On arrival at the scene, police removed a 34-year-old man from the front seat of a parked vehicle where he was allegedly involved in an altercation with the driver.
After allegedly resisting arrest the man was placed into custody and taken to Broken Hill Police Station.
He was charged with attempt stealing of motor vehicle, three counts of resist arrest and breach of bail.
He was refused bail to appear at Broken Hill Court tomorrow (Thursday 18 July 2019).
