Around 10.50am police responded to an isolated incident on Eastlands Drive at Ulverstone.
Reports were received that a man had been involved in an altercation with several people. It was alleged he was in possession of a knife during the incident.
Police isolated an address of interest and commenced negotiations with a man inside.
Following approximately 1.5hours of negotiations, a 35-year-old man was safely taken into custody and is assisting police with their enquiries.
Investigations into this incident are ongoing and police would like to reassure the community that this was an isolated incident.
