A 40-year-old man from Grindelwald has had his licence disqualified after being caught speeding through a Riverside school zone this morning.
Police from Northern Road & Public Order Services intercepted the man travelling west on West Tamar Road at Riverside about 8:25am.
The black Toyota the man was driving was checked travelling at 103 km/hr in the 50 km/hr zone.
“This incident occurred during the peak school drop off time, and could have had a devastating outcome,” said Sergeant Fergus Cameron.
“Police would like to remind drivers of the need to comply with speed limits and drive with caution in and around school zones.”
“We will continue to actively monitor driver behaviour to keep all road users as safe as possible.”
The man has been fined $966 and given six demerit points as well as a four-month licence disqualification.
