Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Sex Crimes Squad have charged a man following an investigation into alleged online child abuse offences.
Earlier this year, detectives from the Sex Crime Squad’s Child Exploitation Internet Unit (CEIU) commenced an investigation after receiving a referral from Queensland Police Service regarding alleged online child abuse.
Following inquiries, Strike Force Trawler detectives arrested a 45-year-old man in Bonnyrigg Heights about 7am today (Wednesday 22 February 2023).
A search warrant was executed at the home, where electronic devices were seized for further examination.
The man was taken to Fairfield Police Station and charged with use carriage service to solicit child abuse material and two counts of intentionally incite other to sexually touch child.
Police will allege in court that the man solicited sexually explicit conversations and acts involving two children while speaking with a Queensland woman online.
He was refused bail to appear before Fairfield Local Court today (Wednesday 22 February 2023).
A 35-year-old woman was charged by Queensland Police and remains before the courts.
Strike Force Trawler is an ongoing investigation by the CEIU into the sexual abuse and exploitation of children facilitated through the internet and related telecommunications devices.
