Whitehorse Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man after a police officer was struck in Nunawading yesterday.
The officer was struck by an allegedly stolen Honda Civic at the intersection of Burwood Highway and Springvale Road about 2.40pm on Thursday 23 May.
Police will allege the officer was attempting to set up a tyre deflation device to stop the stolen car.
The 27-year-old police officer was taken to hospital with serious upper body injuries.
A 20-year-old Ringwood East man was arrested in Ringwood yesterday.
He has since been charged with:
– Aggravated intentional exposure of police officer to risk by driving
– Aggravated reckless exposure of police officer to risk by driving
– Drive in a manner dangerous
– Careless driving
– Recklessly cause injury
– Reckless conduct endanger serious injury
– Fail to stop vehicle after an accident
– Fail to render assistance after accident
– Possess cannabis
He is due to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court this afternoon.
