Man charged after police located over 20kg of cannabis during a vehicle stop – Narrabri

A man will face court after police seized over 20kg of cannabis during a vehicle stop in the state’s north-west last week.

About 12pm on Thursday (23 May 2024), police attached to Peel Highway Patrol were conducting patrols in Narrabri when they stopped a Toyota Camry on Denison Street, Narrabri.

Police conducted a roadside breath test, returning a negative result. Checks reveal the man was wanted on two outstanding warrants.

During a search of the Camry police located and seized just over 20kgs of cannabis.

The 54-year-old driver was arrested and taken to Narrabri Police Station.

He was charged with supply prohibited drug – indictable quantity.

Police also executed two outstanding warrants for domestic violence-related offences, and was also charged with two counts of contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic) for incidents in December 2023 and February this year.

The Kingscliff man was refused bail and appeared at Moree Local Court on Friday (24 May 2024), where he was given conditional bail to reappear at the same court on Monday 17 June 2024.

For the additional charges he will appear at Orange Local Court on Thursday 13 June 2024.
