About 8.10am today (Friday 15 November 2024), police were called to a home on Yeend Street, Merrylands, following reports of a break and enter.
Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command were told a man and woman broke into the home, allegedly stealing cash and jewellery.
The man and woman fled prior to police arrival.
The occupants, who were upstairs, were uninjured.
A crime scene was established, and an investigation commenced.
Following the assistance of Polair and NSW Police Dog Unit, a 58-year-old man and 45-year-old woman were located and arrested.
The woman was taken to Westmead Hospital where she remains under police guard.
The man was taken to Granville Police Station where he was charged with aggravated break and enter.
He was also charged break and enter offences over unrelated matters.
He was bail refused to appear before Parramatta Local Court tomorrow (16th November 2024).
