Wyndham Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following an alleged aggravated carjacking in Manor Lakes last night.
Police allege that two victims were sitting inside their vehicle, parked on Eureka Drive, when they were approached by two males armed with machetes about 11pm.
The alleged offenders forced the two victims out the car, before stealing the red Hyundai wagon and taking off along Eureka Drive.
One of the victims was taken to hospital with a minor injury.
Officers allegedly spotted the stolen vehicle near the intersection of Kings Road and Wellesey Drive in Taylors Lakes, where stop sticks were successful deployed.
The vehicle allegedly continued to travel west along the Calder Freeway, on the wrong side of the road, finally coming to a stop on the freeway near Organs Pipe Road.
The pair allegedly dumped the vehicle and fled on foot into nearby grassland.
Police arrested one of the alleged offenders a short time later.
Despite a thorough search of the area, the second offender was not located.
A 22-year-old Williams Landing man was charged with aggravated carjacking, intentionally cause injury and conduct endangering serious injury.
He appeared before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.
