Baw Baw Crime Investigation Unit and Fugitive Taskforce detectives have charged a man after two alleged armed robberies Warragul in September.
Investigators have been told a 27-year-old Drouin man was in a vehicle on Trumpy Lane when he was approached by two men, one armed with a machete, about 10.10pm on Tuesday, 24 September.
It is alleged the victim was slashed in the face before the offenders fled the scene in the victim’s 2014 Holden Commodore
The pair had also allegedly confronted a 19-year-old Warragul woman in her vehicle, fortunately she was uninjured, but her car was damaged in the incident.
The Holden was later located in Narracan Drive, Moe.
Officers attempted to intercept the car, which allegedly drove onto the wrong side of the road and rammed into a police vehicle before fleeing.
The two police officers inside the vehicle were uninjured.
The Holden was later found brunt out in Graduation Place, Churchill.
As part of the subsequent investigation the Fugitive Taskforce was brought in to assist local detectives.
Investigators subsequently attended a camping area in Rosebud this morning where an 18-year-old Chelsea man was arrested.
He has since been charged with aggravated carjacking, intentionally expose police to risk by driving, arson, threats to kill and theft.
He has been remanded to face Frankston Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
Investigations in relation to the second man involved remain ongoing.
