Man charged following alleged discovery of cannabis hydroponic set up – North Albury

A man has been charged following the alleged discovery of a hydroponic cannabis set-up in the state’s south.

About 9.40am, yesterday (Tuesday 5 November 2024), officers attached to Murray River Police District executed a search warrant at a home in Fallon Street, North Albury.

Police seized 18 cannabis plants – with an estimated street value of $36,000 – equipment used for the hydroponic set up, cannabis leaf and 16 cartons of cigarettes from inside the home and in a rear shed.

Police also seized cash, which police will allege was the proceeds of crime.

A 44-year-old male was arrested at the scene and taken to Albury Police Station.

He was charged with seven offences – cultivate prohibited plant, two counts of possess prohibited drug, supply cannabis more than indictable and less than commercial quantity, supply prohibited plant more than indictable quantity (not cannabis), deal with property proceeds of crime less than $100000 and goods suspected stolen in/on premises (not motor vehicle).

He was refused bail to appear before Albury Local Court today (Wednesday 6 November 2024).
