Man charged on drug and firearm offences at Tamworth, NSW

A man will face court today on 10 drug and firearm charges following investigations into the supply of methylamphetamine in the state’s northeast.

In June 2019, officers attached to Western Region Enforcement Squad (Oxley) established Strike Force Burchmore to investigate the supply of methylamphetamine in the Willow Tree and Quirindi areas.

On Tuesday (29 October 2019), officers executed a search warrant at a home on Learmonth Street at Willow Tree.

Numerous items were seized including a firearm, ammunition, crossbow, methylamphetamine, cannabis plants and other prohibited drugs.

About 8.55am yesterday (Wednesday 30 October 2019), a 31-year-old man attended Tamworth Police Station where he was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Possess prohibited drug
  • Cultivate prohibited plant
  • Possess prohibited plant
  • Possess prescribed restricted substance
  • Goods in custody
  • Not keep firearm safely – prohibited firearm
  • Possess prohibited weapon without permit
  • Possess unauthorised prohibited firearm
  • Possess ammunition without permit
  • Supply prohibited drug

The man was bail refused to appear before Tamworth Local Court today (Thursday 31 October 2019).
