A man will appear before court today charged over an alleged historic sexual assault on the Central Coast.
In 1996, a 35-year-old woman, now aged 63, was at her home in Lake Munmorah when a man allegedly entered the home and sexually assaulted her before fleeing.
On Tuesday 27 February 2024, the woman was at the same Lake Munmorah home when she answered a knock on the door by a man.
The two spoke briefly and the man left the property.
Police will allege in court that this was the same man who sexually assaulted her in 1996.
Following an extensive investigation by Tuggerah Lakes Detectives, police arrested a 52-year-old man on Alliance Drive, Morisset, about 10am on Tuesday 12 March 2024.
He was taken to Wyong Police Station where he was charged with three counts of stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm, two counts of assault with act of indecency, aggravated break and enter and commit felony – inflict ABH, aggravated break and enter and commit felony – people there, inflict ABH with intent to have sexual intercourse with other, and enter building/land with intent commit indictable offence.
He appeared before Wyong Local Court on Wednesday 13 March 2024 where he was formally refused bail to appear before the same court today (Friday 15 March 2024).
