Detectives from the Sex Assault Squad have arrested an 82-year-old man, and charged him with 20 offences as a result of their investigation into a report made to the ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Redress Scheme -investigations into allegations of abuse against children while in State care.
It will be alleged between 1986 and 1987, the man who was a Catholic Priest attached to a mission in regional WA, sexually and physically assaulted a young girl who attended the mission, and who as nine years old at the time of the first offence.
The 82-year-old man from Rossmoyne has been charged with:
• 14 x Indecent Treatment of Child Under 14;
• 2 x Threatened to Injure or Cause Detriment to Prevent/Hinder/Compel Person Doing Act;
• 2 x Unlawful Assault; and
• 2 x Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm.
He is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today, Monday 15 July 2024.
