A man has been charged with attempted murder following a break and enter in Sydney Northwest early this morning.
Officers from The Hills Police Area Command were called to Oakwood Place, Kellyville, shortly after 2.30am (Tuesday 22 August 2023), responding to reports a man had broken into a home.
Police will allege a 41-year-old man had entered the home and threatened the occupants, whilst threatening them with a machete.
An occupant, a 39-year-old man, confronted the man and restrained him until police arrival.
He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedic for lacerations to his hands before being taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment.
A 35-year-old woman and three children were at the home at the time; they are shaken but unharmed.
The older man was arrested and treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for lacerations to his arms before being taken to hospital under police guard.
A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the incident commenced.
Upon being discharged from hospital, the man was taken Castle Hill Police Station where he was charged with break and enter dwelling & assault with intent to murder, break and enter dwelling & inflict GBH on any person, special aggravated Break & Enter & commit serious indictable offence-wound, and contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO.
The North Kellyville man was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 23 August 2023).
