Detectives have charged a man with murder after another man was found deceased in the Mt Druitt area overnight.
About 8.45pm (Friday 22 March 2024), emergency services were called to Georgina Avenue, Melonba, following reports a man was found, likely deceased.
Officers attached to Mt Druitt Police Area Command arrived and found a deceased male with significant head and body injuries.
NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived and treated the man; however, he died at the scene.
The deceased has been formally identified as a local 32-year-old man.
Shortly after police were called to a nearby vehicle collision with a parked car where the offending driver did not stop.
Police responding to the collision located the vehicle of interest which was previously used by the offender to convey the deceased’s body to Georgina Crescent. Police patrolling the vicinity of the vehicle of interest located and arrested, a 38-year-old man, who had been hiding in bushes. This male was conveyed to the Mt Druitt Police Station.
A crime scene was identified and established at a residential premises nearby.
Mount Druitt Police Area Command Detectives established Strike Force Wilty to investigate this matter.
Following inquiries police charged the 38-year-old man with murder.
Police will allege in court the two men were involved in a pre-arranged fight at the home. It’s further alleged the injured man was driven to a nearby street where he was left until he was found by the member of the public.
He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Bail Court tomorrow (Sunday 24 March 2024).
