Kalgoorlie Detectives have charged a man with numerous offences after an incident in South Kalgoorlie yesterday, Wednesday 3 July 2024, in which a vehicle was stolen while children were inside it.
About 10.40am, police were advised a man had stolen a Holden Captiva SUV from a shopping centre carpark on Lionel Street. There were six children aged between one and nine in the vehicle at the time.
Police utilised various intelligence tools and information from members of the public to locate the stolen vehicle a short time later.
The vehicle was located by police abandoned on Carlyle Court in Boulder, with the children safe and unharmed. It will be alleged the accused fled the vehicle on foot and was apprehended at a residence on Taylor Way in Boulder.
The 39-year-old man from Cloverdale has been charged with:
– Steal Motor Vehicle
– 6 x Deprivation of Liberty
– No Authority to Drive
– Stealing
– 2 x Breach of Protective Bail
He was refused bail and is due to appear in Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court today, Thursday 4 July 2024.
