Police have detained a man following a house fire at Seaton.
Just before 3pm on Thursday 11 July, patrols, paramedics and fire crews were called to Brenthorpe Road after reports of a house on fire.
Fire fighters were able to extinguish the blaze but not before the house was significantly damaged.
The sole occupant of the house was located standing out the front armed with scissors and a razor. Police used OC spray to subdue and disarm the man who was detained under the Mental Health Act.
He has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital to be treated for minor self-inflicted injuries and a psychiatric assessment.
A dog which was in the house at the time of the fire was rescued by fire fighters.
Fire Cause investigators will be attending the scene and damage is estimated at around $350,000.
