Man extradited from Queensland over child sexual assault and domestic violence warrants, NSW

A man will re-appear in court today after being extradited from Queensland on four outstanding warrants.

In December 2018, detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Unit charged an 18-year-old man with five sexual and indecent assault offences.

While the man was before the courts, it’s alleged he fled the state.

Following further inquiries, the man was arrested by officers from the Queensland Police Service in Cairns on Tuesday 9 July 2019.

He appeared at Cairns Local Court the following day (Wednesday 10 July 2019), where NSW Police Force detectives applied for and were granted his extradition.

The man was escorted by police on a flight to Sydney last Friday (12 July 2019).

He was taken to Mascot Police Station where four outstanding warrants were executed for child sexual assault and domestic violence offences.

The man was refused bail and appeared at Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday (13 July 2019), where he was formally refused bail to re-appear at Dubbo Local Court today (Wednesday 17 July 2019).

The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.
