Transit Divisional Response Unit detectives have extradited a man from South Australia over a string of graffiti offences.
Victoria Police yesterday arrested the 40-year-old man after he was released from custody in Adelaide on an unrelated matter.
He is accused of vandalising 27 trains across Melbourne between 2017 and 2018.
The man has been charged with 27 counts of criminal damage for spray-painting graffiti which caused more than $15,000 in damage.
A further 28 charges were issued for trespass and possessing graffiti material.
An extradition hearing was held at Adelaide Magistrates’ Court on 2 August before he faced Melbourne Magistrates’ Court later that day.

“No matter how much time has passed we work tirelessly to hold graffiti vandals to account.
“Not only is graffiti unsightly but it causes major disruption to the public transport network when trains have to be taken out of service for cleaning.
