A 40-year-old man will be extradited back from News South Wales to Queensland today after he was arrested in relation to a suspicious fire at Sherwood last weekend.
Just after midday on Sunday, October 27, police were called to a fire that destroyed several vehicles at a Sherwood Road address.
The fire was determined as suspicious, and a police investigation was launched.
Acacia Ridge detectives began working with the New South Wales Police Force which resulted in the arrest of a 40-year-old man in Hornsby at 10.30am on October 30.
The man appeared in Hornsby Local Court on October 31, where he was remanded into custody for extradition back to Queensland today, November 1.
Detective Senior Sergeant Justin Anderson, Officer in Charge of Acacia Ridge Criminal Investigation Branch, said the arrest exemplifies the great partnership between the two state policing agencies.
“We’re grateful to our colleagues in New South Wales who have worked with us to get such a timely result of our investigations,” Senior Sergeant Anderson said.
“That result wouldn’t have been possible without the great work undertaken by investigators, and I would like to thank them for that effort,”
“Now we have secured this man’s extradition back to Queensland, we are acting swiftly to get him back up here and put him in a position to go before the courts.”
