Man faces court after entering home with machete at Dubbo, NSW

A man will face court today after allegedly entering a home wielding a large machete in the state’s Central West.

About 12.40pm yesterday (Thursday 25 July 2019), police received reports a 59-year-old man had walked through the front door of a home on Tink Avenue at Dubbo wielding a large machete.

It is alleged the man was chased from the home by a male occupant, before he entered a neighbouring residence.

Officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District attended immediately and located the man in the rear yard of a Tink Avenue home.

Officers observed what was believed to be a firearm on the ground next to the man and commenced negotiations.

A short time later the man was detained and police located a machete and a replica firearm on the ground beside him.

He was taken to Dubbo Base Hospital for assessment and was released into police custody.

The man was taken to Dubbo Police Station and charged with use or possess weapon to resist arrest, enter building with intent to commit indictable offence, intimidation, and possess unauthorised firearm.

He was bail refused to appear in Dubbo Local Court today (Friday 26 July 2019).
