A man is due in court today charged after allegedly threatening and robbing a train passenger earlier this month.
Police have been told a 21-year-old man was on a train between Werrington and St Marys about 7pm Saturday 1 June 2024, when he was approached by another man armed with a three-sided sharpened metal weapon.
The armed man allegedly stole the passenger’s phone before he left the train at Mt Druitt.
The passenger alerted officers attached to the Police Transport Command (PTC) North-West who commenced an investigation to identify and arrest the man.
Following extensive inquiries, a 38-year-old man was arrested about 4pm yesterday (Sunday 9 June 2024), at a home in Halinda Street, Whalan.
The man was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station where he was charged with hinder or resist police as well as an outstanding warrant for the offences of affray, and use knife in public place-cause person to fear for safety.
He was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail Court today (Monday 10 June 2024).
