A 51-year-old man is expected to face an Adelaide court today (11 April 2022) charged with allegedly assaulting an Adelaide Airport worker and disorderly behaviour.
Australian Federal Police officers charged the man, from New South Wales, after arresting him at a licensed premises at Adelaide Airport yesterday (10 April 2022).
Police were called to a bar area within the terminal after reports the allegedly intoxicated man had assaulted a duty manager at the airport .
The 51-year-old had allegedly also been acting in a disorderly manner, arguing with other patrons and swearing.
AFP officers arrested and charged the man and he was refused police bail to appear via video link today, charged with:
- Assault, contrary to section 20 of the Criminal Law Consolidation Act 1953 (Sth). The maximum penalty for this offence is two years’ imprisonment;
- Disorderly behavior, contrary to section 7 of the Summary Offences Act 1953 (SA). The maximum penalty for this offence is three months’ imprisonment and a $1250 fine.
AFP Detective Superintendent Gavin Stone said there is no excuse for bad and violent behaviour.
“The AFP and our aviation partners have no tolerance for antisocial, violent or dangerous behaviour and we will take action,” he said.
