Man in court over string of supermarket thefts across Sydney, NSW

A man is due to re-appear at court today after he allegedly stole grocery items valued at more than $8000 from supermarkets across Sydney.

In June 2020, officers from Camden Police Area Command commenced an investigation following reports of stealing offences at supermarkets in Baulkham Hills, Chipping Norton, Illawong, Kellyville, Kings Langley, Kirrawee, Sylvania, Waterloo, Revesby, Rouse Hill, and Willowdale.

Following extensive inquiries, officers arrested a 33-year-old man at Narellan Police Station just before 10am on Tuesday 29 September 2020.

He was charged with larceny – value over $5000, and 38 counts of larceny.

Police will allege in court that the man stole a variety of items including insect repellents, vitamins, body lotions and pain killers, with a total retail value of more than $8000, between February 2019 and September 2020.

The Mittagong man was refused bail and appeared in Campbelltown Local Court, where he was granted conditional bail to appear in Picton Local Court today (Tuesday 27 October 2020).
