A man has presented to Kempsey Base Hospital suffering multiple stab wounds to his upper body this afternoon.
Shortly before 6pm (Monday 9 December 2019), a 21-year-old man was driven to hospital by his partner and was treated by staff for multiple stab wounds to his chest and back.
He was then airlifted to John Hunter Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
Officers from Mid North Coast Police District were notified and attended the hospital.
Inquiries then led police to establish a crime scene at a carpark on Smith Street, Kempsey.
Detectives have commenced inquiries and would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have information that could assist.
